Feels painful from my shoulder up into my neck, a bit of a shooting pain when I turn my neck, could it be a trapped nerve? Doesn't go along the shoulder or down the back. What can I do to ease it? I have rubbed in Ibuprofen gel, but would a massage get it better ?

I'm not a great fan of Gel's for pain relief myself.......I would try Ibuprofen 400mgms as and when necessary......and use the shoulder normally for the next 3 or 4 days.

Try something cold like Biofreeze (available from Amazon) Gel or roll on. Have trouble with a trapped nerve in my back and it's recommended by my chiropractor. Works great.
