.....Our good friend Wingnut and her two girls are taking part in this year's Race For Life in aid of Cancer Research UK.

This is a great cause that I have supported over the years, and I'd really like to help Wingnut raise as much as possible.

If anyone else is interested, please have a look at this......

Hi Bob

I have volunteered for Race for Life since 1996 ( marshalling and putting up equipment etc) and taken part in the autumn walks.
Prior to my retirement I raised about £1,000 per year.
I no longer have my work mates to sponsor me but I still volunteer for Race for Life and other events with Cancer Research UK.
My father was also a volunteer until he was unable to carry on because of Age.
Oddly enough it was really my fathers heart giving up combined with old age which caused him to pass away but he wanted his funeral fund to go to Cancer Research UK so we had to respect his wishes.
I think however there will be supporters of the British Heart Foundation who pass away with cancer who will want their funeral fund to go to the BHF so things will work out in the end.
Oddly enough somebody I knew got dementia and mainly passed away as a result of this and his funeral fund went to CRUK.
I think this charity may lose because by the time people get dementia they would not be in a position to change their nominated charity.
With regard to the £1,000 I raised every year a lady in the office has taken my work over so CRUK is still getting their money.

Hi Martin,

My congratulations and thanks to you and your friends for all your charitable support.

You've raised a good point there.....

We choose our charities at the beginning of every year, making sure that we include both national and local causes.
This year, we have chosen seven, and BHF is one of those.....

Good bob, I had already seen it, as you know. Wingnut, you should not be shy, but shout it to the world. Cancer research needs everything it can get. Ed, how about a sticky for a few days? Everyone will see it then.
Wingnut, don't forget to post your link on this thread.
Oops - sorry it's already on the top. I should have known bob wouldn't go half measures.
