Today we went to a shopping outlet, when we returned to the car we sat for a few minutes while I had a drink of water. A large blue van drove into a parking space opposite, the driver got out slamming the door open onto the side the the car parked next to it. His wife rolled out the other side holding a sleeping child, cigarette hanging from her lips, next comes daughter in trackkies holding a cigarette, she gets the push chair from the back of the van and her mate jumps out pulling down her skirt almost covering her backside. I thought it was an episode from Shameless or the one that Harry Enfield used to do. This. I think was the living example for a £26,000 capping. I felt a bit fed up to think that we are helping people like this.

What an incredibly arrogant and judgemental post!
''I had no idea that your feelings ran so high. From what I read most of you enjoy the typical chav style of life, with or without the benefits.'' -
Daffy I agree, this is the only thing that remains of interest to me on this thread since the OP is clearly not concerned with anything I or anyone disagreeing with her has to say on the subject- what exactly to you is ''the chav style of life'' AYG and whatever makes you think that anyone who has contributed to this thread ' enjoys' it?
Nox I obviously have no problem with you disagreeing with ayg's points of view, that is what this site is all about.
What I do have a problem with is how I consider your comments to be very rude and insulting to ayg personally. Disagree by all means but don't get down to the level of personal insults.
You are entitled to your opinion craft but I believe that AYG was far ruder to those who posted here disagreeing with her than I have been to her. I'm not in the habit of being rude unecessarily and certainly made no personal remarks, merely challenged her views.
Khandro, 'pikey' is a west country term for what is known as a 'traveller, tinker, diddy, cacker'', etc.
Hopkirk says, “This `family gets luxuries paid for wth my taxes”. Hopkirk goes on to say “I cancelled my Sky years ago as I couldn't afford it, don't smoke or drink, work ridiculous hours and really struggle.” Posted 23:54 Wed 01st Feb 2012

I am wondering if the family Hopkirk is referring to is the royal family who live in a Palace (Buckingham Palace)
I don't think NOX has been insulting at all. We know what Gran mean by 'most of us living a chav life'

Anyone who smokes
Wear trakkies
Claim benefits

As NOX has tried to express, it's ridiculously judgemental. I would scold my children for expressing such a view as Gran!!
