would get a dyson dc24 - more money - but 5 year warranty a really good machine
Here is a link to John Lewis's Miele and you can see everyone who has reviewed it have given it full marks.
And billiethecat, as I have said earlier, it was the Which report recommending the Miele Cat and Dog that made me buy it.
Also have a miele here, but the bag stinks so much aven after 2 vaccings
If you don't have carpets any vacuum cleaner will do, in fact a broom will do it as well and as quickly.
I had a Dyson in the past and I didn't rate it, certainly not for the price it was.

I know i can check it out myself, but does the dog and cat come in a bagless version as well?
Anna had mine for many years and mine doesn't smell. Need to change your filter I would guess.
boo - think pet version is dc 25 - both dc24 and dc25 are really small uprights - but have good suchion
I do change filter quite regularly, lady
I think it's the ruddy dog hairs
mk, the meile is brilliant - if anyone is having trouble picking up, then it might be their carpets or surfaces, not the vacuum cleaner.

I don't have any experience like annadomino with a smelly bag - we just chuck the bag away when it's full. Surely the bag is only as smelly as what goes in it?

If you join their maintenance scheme (well, I assume they still do it!) they send you a new box of bags every quarter for the first couple of years - my bags last quite a while (and if you wanted to, you could empty them out and reuse). If it helps, when this one dies I'm going to get another one.
Trish gets these tablets you put in the bag, with a slow release deodorant in them. She gets them from the local Pound shop.
Well I'm really surprised at that Anna - have you got a particularly smelly dog then? I have always got cats and dogs around and so have the friends I have recommended the Miele to and we don't have your problem. What a shame, poor dog, poor you:-)
Whenever Which review Vacuum Cleaners then Miele nearly always get the top scores.

Note: Hoover is a BRAND NAME. It is like calling every car a Ford or every Computer a Dell.

The product is a Vacuum Cleaner. So you cant have a Bosch hoover, it is a Bosch Vacuum Cleaner.
sorry you are wrong. Hoover is also a verb now.
we just bought a super powerful vax for the same reason it was £129 but my god it works, hoovered upsttairs before we went away and came back and the place didnt smell like smokers, so i guess the vax picked up teh crap the old hoover didnt.
