I had electric baseboard heaters installed in my home last Fall. In my living room I have a run of three heaters connected to one thermostat. When they shut off, there is always a pinging sound that comes only from the last one, furthest from the thermostat. Anyone know what causes this? Just curious.

These type of noises are usually due to contraction of the heating elements or the casing as they cool down. Just ignore it or if it annoys you then sometimes if the heater is just dismantled and reassembled the slight differences in the alignments of things is enough to stop the noise.
