If you get a bank charge, for the first time, can you claim this back?

I once got charges refunded by pleading that I had made a genuine mistake. Local branch wouldn't do it, but head office did. Worth a try - nothing to lose.

yea maggie my mates done this before, I wondered if I could
Do you mean that you had insufficient funds to cover a Direct Debit?

If you write a grovelling letter to your bank, they may waive the charge.
How long did it leave you overdrawn for?
You might as well try.

They've given me the odd one back in the past (thankfully not had one for a long time now) on the basis that they would do it 'just this once as a gesture of goodwill'. The worst that can happen is they say no.

I called up online and spoke to an agent who says the charges department will look into it and call me back in the next 24 hours!
