Further to my last question it seems like I need a new toilet flush mechanism and someone to come and fit it.

Could anyone give me a rough idea of about how much this should cost for the parts and labour so I don't get ripped off.

Thanks for any help!

New internals should be less than £30 (more likely about 15-20) and its about a 20-30min job to change them.

It's not a hard job to change the internals, so if you know anyone half way competent at DIY they could probably do it, if not you'd probably have to pay an hours labour.
Not asking for much are you... want person whom fits it to test toilets all working aswell !
And suspended for the second unhelpful answer of the morning.

Thanks Chuck :) My neighbour reckoned about £30 for the bits but wasn't sure re labour. He has done a lot of construction stuff in the past and sorted my duff boiler and the ceiling where it all fell through, said it wasn't something he'd do himself and gave me a number of someone he knows through family. Wanted to make sure any quote is fair for landlord.
Agree approximately with chuck ... the only snag is that 'internals' come in many shapes/mechanisms/sizes.

Fitting them is *usually* "a piece of Fosters", but I've occasionally had a very protracted struggle - especially with some of the modern small/stylish cisterns which seem to assume that we all have tiny hands and swivel-jointed wrists.
Last one I done was In a high level cistern with about 5inches gap between it and the ceiling.... It was like trying to fit the siphon while working through a letter box!

It's smallish and I found it fiddly even with small hands (trying to tighten the screwy thing up to sort the water coming out so much - got a bit wet though not quite as wet as trying to sort the airlock in my taps :)). Neighbour managed to get it off (he had the bright idea of turning the water off - I at least know how to do that now!) and put it back on to sort it for now though. The push thing is still stuck down when screwed on though as per my last post but I can manual flush it.

Jenna, my little frappuccino.................. something like this ........ BUT without the cable ............. yours is direct.............

Just wanted to add something to what the others have said ....... labour time will depend on the type of cistern (the china casing). If it's a "close-coupled" (calm down now) WC, then the cistern would have to be taken off the wall to replace the flush valve. This might add a little time to the job. but still less than an hour's work.
I hired a handyman found in my local paper to fix a similar problem with my toilet. I bought the internal workigs myself from B&Q and then he charged about £30 to sort it for me.
