I'm now wondering if it might be a bit of an infection.

I felt like I was coming on my period over the last week or so, some really bad pain down there spreading upwards, going almost spasmy at times and like there is lot of pressure being put on something down there. Also had a bit of left side round kidney area pain earlier today, more like a dull ache.

I initially thought I was late after coming on early last time and was worrying a bit as it was so painful but no sign of bleeding but having really thought about it I'm pretty sure I've had a period since New Year so only part way through my cycle. Thought it might have been messing about a bit with the much reduced diet and weight dropping off (lost another 5/6bs in under 2 weeks so well over a stone now since hospital in November).

I've got a blood test on Wednesday so could ask the nurse there if she could do a quick wee test to see if anything shows up but thought it might be easier to get something from a chemist to help clear it up in the meantime if anyone can suggest anything good?

Otherwise I'll try and get to somewhere with a pharmacy after work tomorrow to ask a pharmacist if nothing good off the shelf. Last thing I want is an infection cropping up with an op due at some point soon!

I don't want to worry you but your description sounds very much like the pain I had when I suffered from ovarian cysts many years ago. I spent weeks being treated for UTI and bowel infection before my doctor sent me for a scan where they found some 2cm cysts and clusters of smaller ones. I was supposed to have surgery to remove them but they actually disappeared on their own :)
drink loads of water, cranberry juice

Urghhh no! I can't be doing with anything else at the moment!

Wondering if it is something hormone related as been feeling decidedly hormonal (and not in a good way!) too and had spots come up and quite a few little red ones round my upper legs. They're a bit itchy and with faffing about with my underwear and tights trying to stop anything pressing down there it's not been a happy day haha!

I rang up earlier and spoke to my GP who has sorted it for them to do a wee test when I go for bloods on Wednesday. No stinging or discharge or anything though she asked me if I'd got a temperature, I've no idea but have been feeling a lot more hot and sweaty than normal. My forehead is warm but that doesn't always equate to having a temperature.

She said if it is an infection that antibiotics should clear anything up in three days.

I was told years ago it was very likely I had PCOS. The hormonal test came back with levels which suggested it and they said it could also be responsible for causing the recurrent groin abscesses I get but that nothing is usually done unless you've tried to concieve for a years without success. Are they the same kind of thing or different cysts?

I'm drinking lots and going to get some cranberry juice later, see if I can help flush anything out.
