It's national Novel Writing Month - check it out -

http://www.nanowrimo.org/

The aim is to write 50,000 words in the month of November.
You can share your writings with friends, and you get a running check on your progress towards the target. It's been going for years, and hundreds of people accept the challenge.

Come on, all you people with a bit of spare time. You could be the next J K Rowling - all you need is the incentive.

My daughter's doing it for a second time, but she's a writer, and will plonk down loads of half formed ideas to be used later.

it doesn't have to be great writing, any old junk is accepted, but who knows, you may have a great novel waiting to be let out...

Just bung me 10% of the royalties...

Good Nanowrimo tools:

http://writeordie.com/ (use the launcher on the right hand side, put in your target word-count and how long you'd like to give yourself)

http://www.literature...tte.com/scrivener.php is great for planning and keeping track. The Windows version is free in beta at the moment.
I used to love writing and have been thinking about trying it again recently - although I've put myself off a bit, what with not being too bright and all that.

Maybe I'll give this a go.
You should Evian. It's only 1600ish words a day.

Hi Ab Editor - my daughter has been using scrivener for her MA in Creative Writing, and says it thinks the way she does. It must be seriously deranged...
It's actually really good, it's kind of "modular" - working in snippets to create a whole.
What a good idea for a cold and miserable November. I might give it a go.
Is it free to do this?
Question Author
Absolutely free, as far as i know, but they give you a halo on your avatar if you make a donation!

It's a very supportive community - there are fun forums, and you can read bits of other people's ravings.

Have a look at the website

Has anyone started yet? My daughter was waiting at midnight, not sure how many words she's clocked up ... lol
I've started... serial killer nurse knocking off patients in ITu... not based on real life in anyway I must point out

Good luck, Rowan - having seen your literary talent, I don't think you'll have any trouble. It's like running a marathon - you may get a bit of pain towards the halfway mark, but have to push through it.

If you need someone to stand by the roadside and shout, just post on Ab Editor !

<[:-)>
Question Author
my daughter's well ahead, as she's going away for a couple of days without her laptop.

Is anyone else doing it, and if so, how's it going?
Question Author
How are you doing, Rowan? Could you work Ab Editor in somewhere, perhaps?

Maybe if you get desperate for topics towards the end of the month!
