I think that owners of dogs should be obliged to keep them muzzled when being visited by postmen, meter readers, delivery personnel and when out for walks
Failure to do so should result in a warning and then, if ignored, the dog should be pout down

I had a GSD bitch who looked as if she might so I kept her under control. The most dangerous are those that give no warning and they often have the most stupid owners.
The chap above has helped two people overcome dog phobias.
Which chap is that? I can only see ads about money advice and working from home!
I wish more dog owners would take their pooches to training classes. It helps enormously with the dogs' socialisation as well as the obvious benefit of training the owners. Baldric - welcome to my club ;) When I was owned by a huge Newfi he was able to help many people and children overcome their fear of dogs because he had the kindest nature I have ever known in a canine.
Someone give Ena a Bob Martins please.
I think people that are idiots should be muzzled when out walking - and should not be allowed to use their computers either for fear of writing stupid comments.
It is not the dog that should be blamed but their owners. Properly trained dogs are not a problem.
I agree Kassee and Star

I like Bob Martins

Not keen on having my temperature taken though ...
Oh Kassee - is that directed at me?? apologies, I was merely having fun with ttfn and anyone that knows us would understand, yours a dog lover and responsible owner of goldfish.

It is a bit too late to blame the stupid/irresponsible owner once the dog has bitten someone or ripped a child's face to shreds. There is no easy solution but I do agree that all dogs should be muzzled in a public place, the op's idea of muzzling them in/on the owner's property is just stupid.
Why should all dogs be muzzled in public places, Daffy. Should all people be handcuffed and muzzled in public places too. At 65 years old and owning dogs for years, and years none of my dogs has even bitten anybody. I am more frightened of some people than of dogs. Dangerous dogs should not be out in public places, and there is a good case for muzzles, but why should all dogs suffer (and they do suffer when they are muzzled) because of the very few that cause problems.

I don't think dogs should be muzzled because some people are terrified of dogs. That is the problem of those people, not the fault of the dogs.
No it wasn't directed at you Marmy - it was directed at Mr robert007 - who thinks dogs should be pout down - whatever that means !!

I think there a number of men that should be pout down too !
