One rule - they must be alive.

1 - Jeremy Clarkson
2 - Boris Johnson
3 - Anne Widdecombe
4 - Mark Thomas
5 - Dannii Minogue (just because she is gorgeous).
6 - Polly Toynbee (just to see 1, 2 and 3 rip the silly bitch to shreds).

Chakka, can you set an extra place for me please. Not so sure I want to have dinner with Ken Livingstone - but at least the arguments would be lively! I'd far rather spend an evening in Alan Coren's company - but as you say, that could not be.
OOOH I forgot Peter Kay!! x
naomi, you'd be surprised: Ken Livingstone is a very interesting dinner companion,as I know from experience. He treats with good humour all my jibes about his being that left-wing loony who once ran the GLC. He is a real joy to argue with because he is so laid back and never gets rattled.
Various friends to whom I've introduced him have expected to find his company unpleasant or irritating and have come away charmed.
Good fun question. Had problems narrowing it down to 6
