Talked to my sis earlier she is doing nothing tomorrow night, then talked to a close mate, neither is he. Felt sorry they might be alone on NYE so I invited them round. I have some food, but will need to shop again. Was thinking starter, sorbet, main, sweet, cheese and biscuits and port.

For starter I have potentially scallops in a sauternes sauce - although I have just made RedHelen's chili tomato ice cream so I could do something with that. Any ideas?!

Main, I have no idea. Either filllet of beef topped with with mushroom gratin or chicken stuffed with wild mushrooms and pancetta in marsalla sauce. No idea about accompanients yet.

As for sweet, I have a lemon and sultana cheesecake in the fridge which I made yesterday. Probably ought to do a quick and easy extra sweet.

Me and my gob. Any ideas? Me and the OH are meant to be going out for the day tomorrow so I need something quick but impressive (both are "foodies"!).

Well thank you all for your lovely suggestions. I whacked out 6 courses in the end (although it involved just opening quite a lot of Waitrose packets!!!!). It was a great evening and the chef was much complimented on her packet opening skills!!! ;)
