I have about 3000 and no chance at present to use them in a euro zone.
I really want to put them in my bank account here, but I am told I will lose a lot on the value

That's not a bad rate, silka!

Yes I paid about 1.09/1.11for them about 4 months ago
Best place is probably Post Office.
Silka didn't say how he (or she) obtained the Euros. If they were bought here, at what rate were they bought. Without this information no-one can realistically advise what best to do.

3000 Euros can be changed at a rate of 1.27 to the pound currently and will probably move to as much as 1.40 over the next few weeks or so. I would sell now.
she already has - see post ^^12.35pm
Open a Euro bank a/c.

You'll never have to worry about Ex Rate fluctuations.
You would get back £2,255.64 for your 3000 euros today at the post office.Change back rate is 1.33euro.
I'm still not clear whether OP thinks she has done well by buying at 1.09 and selling at 1.33.

In absolute terms - no, that's awful.

In the current situation maybe.
