I threw the last of the beef and bubble and squeak away today. Couldn't face it any longer.

I just had scrambled egg tonight
Thought I'd seen the last of the turkey but I checked the slow cooker - aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrghhh!
Hey, Jan 1957 - are we related ?
No dreaded turkey, but big lump of baked gammon which isn't getting smaller somehow. Also a big dish of stuffing with a layer of mummified chippolatas
Slice it and freeze it - it lasts really well. Tried my brilliant new recipe this year, cooked it in neat Morrisons ginger beer (used whole bottle 54p) it was fantastic - so moist! Will never cook in plain water or roast ever again!
I couldn't bear to throw away beef - we'll freeze any leftovers.
I have just stood and made our annual turkey and veg soup, a lot of work involved but worth it in the end! We take off as much meat as possible from the carcass then pressure cook in chicken stock, the legs and wings and as much carcass as will fit in the pressure cooker. When cooked for half an hour or so, we strip all the meat off the bones, then cook 6 large potaotes, 6 carrots and 1 large onion until tender. Cube a couple of each veg (to add to the soup at the last minute to give it "chunkiness") then blend the rest of veg into a puree, also blend or liquidise the meat and stock down preferably not too finely. Add the two together, season well and finally add the cubed vegetables and extra pieces of turkey....... my family go mad for this soup!
Boxy, I didn't know bears were beef. You learn something new every day. lol. ♥
