Christmas Traditions

Lady in the shop today, told me that each year she has new Christmas pyjamas. Christmas wouldn't be the same without them :-)

Made me wonder what are your non-food and drink Christmas traditions?

For the last few years it seems our tradition is having to work all over, and it's the same this year. ho hum.

Christmas eve usually starts off with me, Dad, one of my sisters and her kids going to the carol singing round the Christmas tree in the village (very twee) then we head home for pork sarnies and a few drinks. Sis takes the kids home and reads them a christmas book and does all the usual stuff then on xmas morning I wake the kids up by ringing them at some stupid hour and me and Dad head round to watch them open their presents and have breaky. The rest of the day traditionally consists of eating and drinking.

You sound like my BIL, evian - he wakes up his grandchildren at some indecent hour by ringing them up. It's him who stays awake all night waiting for it to be Christmas Day!

I know, every year I wake up and wait to hear from them (knowing they will ring as soon as they're up as they aren't allowed pressies til we get there) and every year I end up getting bored waiting and wake them up. It's not normal for kids to be awake after adults on xmas day!

Carol Singing in the village sounds lovely Eb. What a lovley tradition.

We always go to the Christmas morning Family service at 10am and laugh as our minister attempts to play with all the new fangled toys the children have brought along to church to show us.

Yes our previous minister actually managed to break one of the toys (or so he made out!) we have remote control cars screaming across the area at the front of the church, dolls saying all manner of strange things and doing whoopsies! (not saying Mama like mine did in the 50s!) and evil dressing up outfits that scare the old folks in the congregation half to death (LOL!) A great family time which ends with the children singing "away in a manger" aaaaaahh!
