I'm a female, aged 30 and have had a sharp stabbing pain in my left shoulder for ages. It hurts more in the front left side of my body above my breast. Nothing seems to ease it either. I've taken paracetamol and worn a scarf on it for a month to keep it warm, but it didn't help much. I can't find any comfort in lying or sitting. The pain is similar to a stabbing pain and comes and goes. I've been to an osteopath and the pain eased slightly, but came back the next day. I've had it for about 4 months. Any advice? Thank you so much.

As it has been going on for some time,a visit to your GP would not come amiss.do yo have a problem with your gall bladder? sometimes you can get refrred pain, but again a doctor would sort you out.Hope you get on ok.

I always thought that was symponatic (sp?) of digestion problems.I think a wee visit to your GP would be in order-could be heartburn which is really painful specially in bed.Could also be even at your age the first symptoms of an ulcer.Try eating for a few days easily digestible food like boiled eggs - cupa a soups - nothing spicy or meat which takes time to digest. That should give you an indication if it is digestion.I have had it and so has my 20yr old son usually lying down and we both did what I suggested and the there was relief. We both still went to our GP'S tho for back-up medication

Dont worry - you will feel better soon!!.

Phone NHS direct, but they will just say go to your GP. Go! Tomorrow morning! Don't worry about work, get it sorted and you will feel better.

Thank you so much to Copippin, Buddy and Scarlett for all your kind help and answers. I feel so much better reading your advice, I dont feel as scared or alone now. Thank you all so much you have made me feel a lot better.
May the Lord bless you for your kindness.
I've also emailed the osteopath I saw yesterday and he told me that I have an extra rib, or 'cervical rib syndrome'. I was so nervous at the time I didn't hear him mention that! Apparently, I will need further treatment and an x-ray too. I will let you know how I get on, and it feels so much nicer to have someone to talk to about it. Thank you all once again and God bless you!
