Had loads around in the apple trees in my village this year, but not seen any in the shops.

Perhaps I've missed a marketing opportunity ....

Or do people not buy it any more?

I've never bought any :-)
I would buy it if I saw it in the shops.
I think its difficult to grow - its a parasite that grows on various species of trees mainly in France I heard - please correct me if I'm wrong.
Our local florist sells loads of it
I haven't seen it this year. Our local greengrocer, who always put on a good show of seasonal veg has shut up shop due to the recession. I will miss him.
We have the plastic mistletoe that comes out every year so we don't buy it :)
I have seen it for sale in my local greengrocers, the price is ridiculous!......think you have missed a marketing oppurtunity sunny-dave!........
I often drive through Herefordshire, and see Mistletoe growing wild everywhere, the trouble is that is always grows too high to reach!......
Erin - I have always raced round all the florists and supermarkets trying to find red carnations to do a table flower arrangement, but red spray cars are always in short supply at Christmas. Last Christmas Eve I popped in the Co-op and they had a very realistic bunch of red silk spray carnations for £2.99 - everyone around my table was amazed as they simply could not tell the difference - I've just finished using them for my arrangement again this year. I bet the plastic mistletoe is just the same especially when hung over a door frame for instance.
mammyalynne If you did buy some mistletoe who would you hope to kiss under it?
You definitely missed an opportunity there Dave, it was in the Times the other day, there is a nationwide shortage this year. Don't ask me why, I didn't read the full article!
Not what I read earlier from the Daily Mail

I haven't seen any holly around either ...
You never know what to believe Ann! And my holly is full of berries:-)
Just the same Ann.. It hangs from the light in the living room :)
i think its protected by law,its held in high regard by pagans as it does not touch earth or sky nor has roots to bind. i got some plastic stuff this year and it looks ok as its in bough across the fire place
ihave fake mistletoe! :D
I dont need it.
Re Missprim's question to me - I would kiss the love of my life of course and no am not telling.
