Why are British authorities so incompetent when handling incidents like Deepcut? An open and honest, independent investigation at the outset of this tragedy may have proved embarrassing, but it wouldn't have deteriorated into the shameful scandal that has unfolded over the past few years. Will the military, the police and the government ever learn?

Because an open and honest investigation into Deepcut itself would have turned up even more scandal and shame for the British Army. Only the truth about Deepcut could be more embarrassing the incompetence of this investigation.

The truth would damage even more the serious recruiting problem the army has at present. And don't forget, ordinary folk like me and you are only told what 'they' want us to know. The truth will be locked away until all those in living memory have gone.

It brings shame on the finest army in the world.

someone has been getting away with murder(s)

Would you join an army which treats its recruits in this way and then, when they do put their lives on the line hangs them out to dry in order to play up to a (Muslim) minority in this country ? I mean those Paras who have been through the mill because of a load of lying, thieving ********s from Iraq. Not quite on thread but same people in control.

I agree derekpara. I have no problem at all with the rank and file lads, who always do the business and can't be blamed when men trained to kill are suddenly expected to act like Dixon of Dock Green. My problem is officers and civilian authority figures who do not lead properly.
Thanks, Drusilla. I once, legitimately, issued a firearm and ammo to a fellow NCO, who unknown to anyone had personal problems. He promptly went back to his quarters and shot himself. When the investigation by the RMP began one of the first questions they asked me was ' Did you stand to gain promotion by his death ?' That was years ago but I can remember my 'superiors' immediately distancing themselves from me instead of supporting me.
derekpara im glad you said muslim....... minority-key word
tali122. Well, it's not Jehova Witnesses who are trying to blow us up !
you have to be careful of jehovahs witness theyre far more stealthy(they could teach the SAS a thing or two about that!) and subliminal
