My opinion that he was right and stopped the delay for hundreds of passengers trying to get home to their family's.

He done the right thing and dispensed with a fool effectively, however legally it would be assault and the guard should not have accepted the guys offer of help.

I reckon, just put it down to experience and let the guy go.
I agree, he got all he deserved. He may have been dealt with a little roughly but that was his own fault for trying to get back on the train. Tougher action had to be taken.
An antisocial criminal attitude and blatant disrespect for authority in today's youth needs nipping in the bud.
no. but the law is an ass in this country and i bet he ends up in court. the 'lovely' student in question was foul, could not produce a valid ticket and should be prosecuted. he claimed to have had a season ticket and then 'pay for odd days when going in for exams'. why would you need to pay if you had a season ticket? and why hasn't he been waving the 'real' ticket around as proof? if he was my son, i'd have slapped him into the middle of next week and kept schtum. how any parent can be proud of that is beyond me.
Delay des not warrant assault in my book. In that case we'd all be justified for punching anyone who was dawdling in front of us and keeping us back from our oh so busy lives - is that what we want society to turn into?
I don't think he should be prosecuted but I don't think the situation was handled properly either; the lad said he was sold the wrong ticket and was only trying to get back on the train to get his bag which had personal items; including diabetes medication in; if it was an elderly gentlemen he wouldn't have been handled in such a manner.
Yes, I think he should be prosecuted, but ONLY because others are prosecuted when they are not the instigators of a situation and are standing up for themselves or others. Then, when it got to court, the case should be laughed out.
think this man should be cautioned for some kind of assualt

it makes me quite sad
4getmenot, yes he should be prosecuted, that guy was minding his own business and harming no one!!

if anything he was entertaining!
He did what every other passenger wished they were ABLE to do.
This was debated long and hard a few days ago.

The bottom line is whether we want a society where kids being obnoxious are assaulted by any random stranger who happens to be bigger and stronger than them.

Perhaps the people supporting the 'Big Man' would be happy if at some point in the future they are ever in a verbal dispute with some company representative they are likely to have matters curtailed by someone bigger and stronger than them who decides they can butt in and assault them.
Absolutely he should, otherwise it's a carte blanche for bad tempered people to take the law into their own hands simply because they're being inconvenienced by somone else's bad behaviour. Two wrongs do not make a right and the so called 'big man' needs dealing with every bit as effectively as the alleged fare dodger. You can't just assault people because the fancy takes you that you are in the right.
''who happens to be bigger and stronger than them''

The physical difference between the two is irrelevant to the argument... if the 'big man' had been a 'man of equal stature' would it make any difference?
would he have done it if he hadn't been bigger and stronger?
