Rang up a reputable reclamation place today to get himself's van towed away for scrapping (gave them the make/model and our address). Told them I would be out from 2.45 to 3.30 and thought no more off it. Coming back from the school run I saw the van on the back of a skip truck and assumed that the driver had spoken to himself who had said he would be home early. Got home, money on the side for the van, thought no more of it. Just spoken to himself about it and the driver hadn't spoken to him. So basically, anyone could have rung up and asked for the van to be scrapped, they have no proof it was ours to get rid of - bit worrying that you do this so easily.

Thing is, I told them we didn't have the key (forgot to tell them it wasn't locked) and they said they would just smash the windows. What's to stop some malicious so and so ringing up and getting someone else's car towed away?
You need the paperwork to confirm that a scrapper has taken it and then that it has been disposed of......

Hi JTH - no paperwork, just a scrap of paper saying £160 for scrapped van! Envelope was just put through the letterbox.
just what phil mitchell did to jacks car tonight in eastenders.

Hi Rozia - think Phil probably used a dodgy mate to do that!
A bit of the norm really.
What you 'could' have done was take it for a last drive to the scrappies . .and you would be better off.

Hi AlBags - following Friday's losing of the keys situation, we couldn't drive it there as we didn't have the key (only ever had one), weren't planning on changing it this side of Christmas even though it was on its last legs.
