I've got some cod fillets for tea and cos I'm not keen on fish I don't know what to do with them. I don't wanna make cod and chips or fishermans pie, anyone got any nice ideas?

Fish chowder?
Give me the cod and get a takeaway?
Have they still got the skin on?

Cod is a very mild flavoured fish so could probably do with a sauce.
A jazzed up kedgeree with fried onions and some veg, perhaps?

The curry will take away the nasty fish taste...
cod au gratin which is cod baked in the oven with milk and grated cheese on top, drain off milk before serving but to get the proper recipe just Google "cod au gratin" and that will tell you which herbs to use.
Suggest you serve with mash potatoes with a spoonful of salad cream added and swede & carrot mixed and mashed with butter.

nice idea coccinelle :) I just googled and theres tons of different ways to do it, I found a nice one that should go well with some oniony tomatoey bulgar wheat ..thanks for that :)

I would chuck but my fella has done all the cooking for over a week so I don't wanna get takeout and look lazy ;)
Cod doesn't have a fishy taste.

Cod would be wasted on things like chowder and kedgeree. It's not cheap fish either. Chowder and kedgeree are made with cheaper, stronger tasting fish like smoked haddock.

they dont have skin ummmm, i might google for sauces though

thanks venator, i thought of that but when i suggested it to my husband he looked ready to pack his suitcase and bugger off lol ... totally agree with the curry comment though :)

thanks dee sa, I thought of that too (though didnt know what it was called) I don't like salad cream or swede, I would have to do chopped spring onions and sweetcorn :)

and im lying .... i cooked last night ..forgot about that

What about butter sauce? Parsley sauce or watercress sauce? I had watercress sauce the other day...very nice.
You could marinada it in a tandoori paste, cube and put on skewers with toms
Question Author
I've never tried watercress sauce, I'm still sat here in my jamas, if i don't get a move on it will be fish butties :)

ooh that sounds nice and simple flurf.... might just stay in my jamas a wee whil longer and do that :)
You could dust them in a flour, salt and pepper mix (or even curry powder) then shallow fry them. Nice with jacket potato and green beans.

Mediterranean Cod

Roast some chunks of new potatoes in olive oil with salt, ground black pepper, oregano and basil...add some wedges of red onion, and crushed garlic halfway through cooking. Finally-add halved tomatoes, top with the cod fillets cut into smaller pieces, drizzle with more olive oil, season-and continue cooking until the cod is done-no more than 10-15 minutes.
