My Sky + box has stopped working and Sky have said that they would charge £65.00 for an engineer to come out. If the box can't be fixed, a refurbished replacement will be provided.

Sky+ HD is an extra £10.50 per month, no charge for the box.

So, anyone know what Virgin's packages are like?? I've looked on the website and it looks better, but more expensive.

Thanks

You are right, more expensive in the long run.
I had the same problem recently and my original Sky+ box was replaced free with a Sky+HD box as they are discontinuing the Sky+ box. I am perfectly satisfied with the quality of my picture so have not taken up the option of paying extra for HD, and the new system works perfectly with my original contract. Be careful as Sky sometimes will not allow you to cancel your contract with them until the end of the contract year. Sorry I know nothing about the Virgin set-up.
I've got Virgin + HD (XL package - no sports or movie channels), Internet and telephone landline, all for less than £40 per month.
Are you actually in a Virgin cabled area? Bit pointless if you aren't.
Throw the old one.
Buy an HD box.. Samsung or Pace if poss. on eBay for about £65-75
Don't take the HD pack .. just watch the free ones. Box will record as before .. but a lot better PG and recording machine.
We're with Virgin - V+ box went wrong, a new, upgraded one was supplied and fitted free of charge.
You would have - Virgin own the box still. Thats the big difference, with Sky you buy the box, with Virgin it's just rented....
