I will be in receipt of a new white ceramic toilet tomorrow and want to know from the start how to keep it looking as new as the day i got it.

I'm in a hard water area so this needs to be taken into account too.

Firstly, use a toilet brush whenever possible. Any acidic toilet cleaner ( look for hydrochloric or phosphoric acid for best performance) used occasionally will do the job. And *don't* use too much hypochlorite-type bleach as it is strongly alkaline and can etch the vitreous surface if over-used.
I use denture cleaners on ours - we have a lot of isues with out downstairs loo getting quite limescaled up in a short period of time, used to use cheap coke to clean it, but someone recommended dentrue cleaner tablets, put in 5 and a quick wipe round and its pristene! i was shocked.
The other toilets in the house i use Harpic Power Plus - best bleach i have found!
I find that Harpic liquid works best for me
Harpic power plus or any other super limescale remover

Thanks for the answers i didn't even realise that there was a special one for limescale, but why wouldn't there be?
I use a bottle of tesco value bio washing liquid for clothes
its cheap enough, and the bio, works on stains in the toilet too
oh no toilet brush please , they are disgusting!
How do you clean residue of the sides if you don`t use a toilet brush?
^^You put dentures in with the Steradent tablets and when you flush they act a bit like a handful of stones used to clean out a cement mixer of course.
Domestos Zero Limescale works. (I`m in a hard water area too)
Half a bottle of Coke slung down once a week (overnight) will keep it looking beautiful.

No Joke

I got Morrisons own 100% limescale remover for £1. Works a treat :-)
If you have iron in the water, use vinegar, it works like magic.
