Hello  thanks for replying. My father served on this ship too. He was aboard at the time when it was destroyed was this the same for your brother? I just think that  sometimes  it seems to have been  forgotten about as i never see or hear any mention of it anywhere  Neither me or my family never really understood what happened. Do you feel the same?
Good to hear from you. Yes absolutely! It was my brother's maiden voyage, I was 15 at the time and have never really come to terms with it. I have some info and some pictures of the memorial. If you like, email me with your contact details ([email protected]) and we could have a chat, maybe even meet up. Best wishes, David.
Jonjo, I was on the "Royston Grange" from 1965-66 and would possibly have known your father. I am very sorry for your loss; please feel free to contact me.

my father, bruce was bosun on the royston grange from march 1966 - sept 1967

My brother-in-law, Denis Beverley, was on that ship - he was an assistant steward. I attended the funereal in Montevideo
Hi,

I realise you posted this question a while ago, but my Uncle David served on the Royston Grange and was killed in the accident. I understand other members of my family went to the memorial in Montevideo and to the service in the UK. David died three years before I was born but my mother has told me lots about him. I believe he was a deckhand and had served on the ship for maybe a year or so.

I served on the Royston Grange as a deck boy in 1967. I joined the ship in kg5 dock in London. Down to Cape Verde, for bunkers then on to B Aires. I been with houlders for a number of years, Oremina,Orelia,Oredian,Queensbury,Shaftsbury,
Bidford
Priory to name a few. Not a day goes by that I dont think of what happened to all those on board. On 11th of May is the 40th annivesity of the tradigity.
