Why do local authorities mostly advertise their "jobs" in the Guardian? Are they saying that they only want to recruit Guardian readers? Are they saying that in order to be a 5 a day consultant you must be a wishy washy liberal.

Loosehead - you are SOOOOOOOOOOOOO easily wound up it's making me laugh!!

Have good weekend!!! :-)

Ah the old, I'm talking B(*&^%ks so let's pretend it's a wind up ruse! From you JB, I'm honoured.

Not at all - I've been PMSL while I've been typing in this thread. Honestly, all the times you've taken pleasure in posting things purely to wind people up, I thought you'd appreciate it when someone got one back!

Watching you back track was a treat, and I never thought I'd see the day you apologised for taking a pop at Muslims! Still, miracles happen - and you being more wound up than me about a thread in news... well, that's a miracle too I think!! :-)

Question Author
I didn't back track, I didn't take a pop at muslims, I took a pop at Guardian readers and local authorities.
Just seen this thread, JB what planet are you on? LH mentioned Islam earlier on, it's been explained and suddenly you've all but accussed him/her of being islamphobic. I think the original point was valid the public sector has increased by 600k + since the comming of the great New Labour. There are still more clerks than medical staff so it ain't all gone on the NHS!

Mrs T - honestly I'm just winding him up! He's accused me of being a Commie before, but on this ocassion I assure you my comments are all utterly good-natured. Welcome to AB, and to news. I hope you enjoy it here and feel welcome. You'll see many threads where debates will get very heated. In the past, several users have taken great pleasure in really winding me up. As it's Friday, I just thought I'd get my own back.

I know full well he wasn't having a pop at Muslims - really, I do understand that! Just at Guardian readers, who he thinks are 99.9% lefties (a word he uses like a swear word) amongst whom he places me, despite the fact that I read the Torygraph. (For the record, I have never voted Labour yet Loosehead has been amongst those believing [or appearing to believe] that I idol-worship Tony Blair. For the record. I don't.)

Anyway, this has been the most relaxing fun I've had in news for some time! Have a nice weekend all of you!

Question Author
Don't tell me you voted Tory JB, surely not!

No - certainly not. But I vote in a Tory constituency, so it doesn't really matter what I vote anyway. But yes, I voted Lib Dem - so I guess you're never gonna give up calling me a Loony Liberal now. FYI though, I voted Lib Dem as it was the best change of unseating the horrible Tory who is MP in this constituency.

Oh - and are you going to admit to having been had yet?

Question Author

Right so if I read this right you are really a Labour supporter but you have voted Lib dem because they have a better chance against the Tories in your constituency.

Please tell me you're not a real Lib Dem JB, please!

ahem, for fear of upsetting j-b, 'tis probably the same reason why the BBC and other 'medya' jobs are advertised, pretty much exclusively, in the Grauniad - it fosters a political bias that some people swear blind doesn't exist (see Andrew Marr for evidence that it does).
I'm not a "real" anything Loosehead. In a PR election I would vote for the party that had the best combination of policies to suit me, and a leader had had reasonable faith in. In the mean time, I vote anti-Tory - i.e., which ever party has the best chance of getting the Tories out in my area. If they get a decent leader, and some decent policies, I would reconsider. I hope that's ok with you!
Obviously there's a greater chance of hell freezing over, but it's good to be open-minded. You could even try that one day. You never know, it might not hurt so much after all.
