It says here that November to February is best http://www.discover-t.../northern-lights.html

If you google "Northern lights best time", several sites come up.
One of my friend lives in Alaska and she said she saw them in September this year and that is the earliest she has ever seen them. Hope they are clear for you when you go. I haven't seen them since I was a child, even then it was over scotland and that is not nearly as spectacular as they are in the arctic circle.
Grem78 have you been yet or are you still going?
I want to know are the northern lights really that good to have to save all that money and travel to the cold to see them which is not even 100% garanteed?
Are they little more than glorified fireworks or are they really that heavenly and life changing spectacle?
Please do let me know.
They`re like a big flowing curtain. Quite often they`re a rather dull colour though. It`s probably hard to predict when they`re going to be spectacular.
