One Thousand.
thousand ?
Question Author
but surely a thousand contains the word 'and', thous'and' .... so what would be next
Are you sure the setter isn't just discounting numbers such as 'one hundred and one'?
if you can't use the letters AND (rather than the conjunction "and") then surely it will be one Million.
Question Author
there is no A in one million
if thousand is discounted then I'd go with MILLIARD
Oops, I was thinking "without A" - sorry
Question Author
how much is a milliard?
it's a real English word that has been neglected in the language in favour of the American billion i.e. 1,000,000,000
Question Author
thank you.
there might be some obscure words that represent much smaller numbers than that but none come to mind at present
