I have a very good quality bath sealant along my bath between the tiles and bath edge. In a few places only and close to each other there are some black spots that will not rub off. They seem to have appeared where I had left bottles and things on the edge of the bath close to the tiles and sealant. These marks are black and it is not mould. I covered them with toothpaste for cosmetic reasons but is there a better answer?

Bleach?
Question Author
Bleach has no effect unfortunately. It was the first thing I tried.
Remove the siolicon sealant and replace.

I have used products from a compaany called HG once or twice. They seem good but not perfect at geting rid of black mould marks. You want wish to give them a try.
SILICONE >:-(
Question Author
I don't want to replace the lot, as the black spots are only in a small area about four inches in length. I would have to pay quite a lot to have it resealed and don't know whether it would be as perfect as the present sealant is. Experience tells me to leave things as they are.
Only thing I can think of, Starry, is to blind the spots with a little white paint (assuming the silicone is white), then run a fingerful of sealant over the top of that.

Thanks a lot The Builder (what is your real name). You are a great help and I am merely a female of the species!
I just cut them out with a fresh large craft knife and redo.
I tend to put some 'Grot Buster' on a cotton wool ball and stick it to the spot for an hour or so. Bit of a girly trick but it works for me - good luck
Love the Grot bust :o)

I must admit I would do what Al says and cut it out, but only if you're confident enough to replace it.

Thanks for your kind words Starry. Al and I, and Buildersmate plus a few others are usually on the case :o)

Not allowed to give out personal info on here I'm afraid. It Would look a lot like advertising :o)
I met Tommy Walsh in London (Bow) DIY store a while back.
