think of a number between 2 and 9,multiply this number by 2, add 5, multiply it by 50 (told you you may need a calculator), if you have already had your birthday this year add 1755(if not add 1754), bare with it, now subtract the the year you were born eg. 1975, you should be left with a three digit number, the first number is the original number you chose, the other two are your age ? how does that work ?

I got -221 or 45.
ive seen this before and have tried it with all the numbers and it works every time. i've no idea how though sorry, I just think it's really cool magic!

Oh my god - that's freaky

There are variations on this

Basically the number you first choose (y) is multiplied by 100 in two stages x2 and x50 giving y00.

To this you are adding in 5x50=250 and 1755 which =2005 the current year (coincidence?)

If you subtract your year of birth from 2005 you get your age, if you had your birthday already which you probably have

The first number you chose is multiplied by 2 and then by 50, so it is multiplied by 100 and will turn up in the answer in the 'hundreds column'.

The 5 that is added is also multiplied by 50, giving 250. You add 1755 to this to get 2005 (this year!), then subtract your year of birth, so this will give your age.

It won't work if you are 100 or over, but then you've probably got better things to do than asking/answering questions on answerbank.

wow we had this go round our office last week, shows how exciting we r heh heh heh
We used to do something like this in school, in the fifties and sixties, we used to think of a number, double it, add on any number you want, halve it, then take away the first number you thought of, and you have the answer. if anyone wants to know how its done, i'll tell you, but I imagine there's quite a few out there who already know.

This has been on our local radio this week. You don't live in Dorset, do you reacher?

ium afraid i got 15 as my age?? which is indeed not true (honest)
