Has anyone rehomed animals from abroad particularly cats?

I haven't, but my immediate thought was quarantine laws making such a thing very very difficult to the point where it wasn't viable.

Hiya dawndevil. Whilst i appreciate and congratulate your idea wouldn't it be better to adopt and look after our own british born cats first, afterall charity begins at home.

This is done quite often.....there are no quarantine issues providing that the cat has had all it's injections in the donor country (e.g Spain) and is in receipt of the cat "passport."

There's a lovely English lady in Menorca who looks after waifs and strays, seeing that they are all neutered and so forth. If I remember rightly some of her cats have been brought over to the UK. You can go visit her place in Menorca, and she often has a stall in the square by the American Bar on a Saturday to raise funds for the cats care sadly I can't remember her exact details but it would be relatively simple to find out more

I don't do cats I'm afraid but I have a lovely 6-yrs-old red better/cocker spaniel cross whom I adopted when I lived in Spain.

I brought him back to England without any need for quarantine.

He was microchipped and fully fascinated. He had certificate from Valencian authorities to state that that his bloodshed revealed he was rabies-free. When the time came to bring him back here, he simply had to have ticks and tapeworm treatment and we then had maximum of 48 hours to get back to England.

I do live in the uk I have recently returned from a holiday in Tenerife and saw lots of lovely strays that I'd love to bring home but as I don't know anyone in tenerife I just wondered what the procedure was thanks everyone :)
