I need to buy three tv's for the new property like 40-42 inch flat LCD or LED, with freeview hd, this seems to be where tv's are now.

There's 3D tv's too but don't understand how useful this would be really.

But I don't know:

A) if to get LCD or LED
B) if the supposedly smart tvs with internet are worth getting, they don't seem to cost much more, but it seems you only get certain app's as apposed to free rein of the internet but i might be wrong?

Any advance thanks

lcd and plasma are what the tv are in not led... led is the light behind the screen so you can see it? its either led or the more inexpensive and tried and trusted florescent id go for fluorescent, they say you get a brighter picture with led.... what for you have to lower the brightness anyway unless ya want sunburn

It really depands on what your needs/wants are, have a think about those before deciding.

I recently bought a 47 inch backlit LED, no 3D, with network connection. LG 47LE8900.

Reasons:

Backlit LED: The picture quality is excellent, every review I read said that.
3D: I am not interested in 3D, I think it does not add anything to the type of films I watch and in any case the home technology for this is in it's infancy.
Network: I watch a lot of things on BBC iPlayer, it is nice to be able to stream direct to my television. There are also apps for YouTube, FaceBook and others but I don't use them. No direct feed to internet but then again no mouse or keyboard so would be limited anyway.

Also, Richer Sounds were doing a really good deal on them. :)

One last thing, the sound on my TV is apparently rubbish but I didn't care as I already had a good external speaker system with sub.

Bottom line, don't pay for things you don't need but it is definately worth splashing out on the features you are interested in.

cool thanks for that billy
You can always add smart tv at a later date if you want, LG make a great Smart box that sells for about £85 and turns your tv into a Smart Tv.
