Has anyone else noticed the extraordinary success rate of this solver in winning prizes? I'm fairly sure that this week's runner-up in the Spectator must be about his/her 4th or 5th mention this year, and that's only in the crosswords which I attempt regularly. I wonder what the secret is? Are there other names which crop up very frequently?

C J Ellis seems to win a few prizes in the Daily Mail and the Yorkshire Post aswell......
good on him/her!

i used to win very regularly (under various family names) by entering by hand on the day the local prize crossword came out! its never really selected from all correct answers, i decided ...
Find this a little strange Turast as you have also had your fair share of prizes in the last few months.

Quite so, Capersuzy, and good luck to C J Ellis. I've also, at times, gone for years without winning anything. I'm simply remarking on the apparent lack of randomness in what ought to be a random process. I suppose it's like the proverbial bus. You wait for ages and then two come along at once?
Apologies Turast if I misunderstood your comments about the success rate of C.J.Ellis. I assume the more crosswords you enter each week the greater your chances of success and I have noticed a few people who have won 2 or 3 times close together recently. One of these is Mark Nichols who contributes on this site as MN-Rugby,don't know if he has any views on this.Anyway, keep sending them in and hopefully you will get the occasional "bite".
