Having a rather drunken conversation last night, we got talking about films, really well known films especially from our childhood/growing up years (we're all in our 40's) and it amazed me the "classics" some of them hadn't seen. Mr Boo for example hasn't seen Grease! I mean how is that possible??

Over to you, what "classic" films haven't you seen?

I'm coming into this very late but, like the friends of BagPuss, I too have never seen any Star Wars or Lord of the Rings films. The idea of sci-fi bores the pants off me, and I can't stand Tolkien. As I can't stand sci-fi, I wouldn't go and see Chariots of Fire at first! Lord of the Rings hysteria almost runed a trip to NZ a few years ago, I had to ask what LOTR meant on maps.
sound of music
cc1 - i inderstand where you are coming from.

because NZ is so small, everyone knows someone who was involved in the filming, and a small country with little indiginous industry, they have grasped the tourist trade with both hands, which must be a royal drag if you don't love the Tolkien saga.
Have never seen any James Bond films (or wanted to!)
OH MY GOD...YOU HAVE NEVER SEEN STAR WARS OR LORD OF THE RINGS...YOU CANT LIVE LIFE TO THE FULLEST UNTIL YOU SEE THEM!!!!
Saving Private Ryan, Titanic, and Transformers: Dark of the Moon, which believe it or not is this year's second biggest-seller.
YOU HAVE NEVER SEEN SAVING PRIVATE RYAN OR TRANSFORMERS...OH MY GOD, WAT DO YOU PEOPLE WATCH LOL!
well, not any Transformers movies, really.

God, I sound like more and more of a cretin every time I post, don't I.
lol, no you dont JNO...wat im saying...i probably sound like an idiot :)

Forgotten i'd done this thread!

By "classics" I meant films that were ENORMOUSSSSSS for a time, and were around for months and months and in some cases years, decades etc, ones which make me think "my God, how can you not have at least seen some of it?"

So I don't necessarily mean cinema greats/classics.
here's the top grossers since 2000. I've seen five of them

2000 How the Grinch Stole Christmas
2001 Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
2002 Spider-Man
2003 The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
2004 Shrek 2
2005 Star Wars Ep. III: Revenge of the Sith
2006 Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
2007 Spider-Man 3
2008 The Dark Knight
2009 Avatar
2010 Toy Story 3
2011 Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II
Never watch any American films - can't home into the dialect - sorry!
Well I've seen all but one of se

But then I've got kids who grew up during that period and frankly those are all aimed squarely at the childrens/teenage market

Therein lies another point about who goes to the cinema these days!
Bit late to this thread but never seen Titanic , The Sound of Music, Forest Gump.
jno - I've seen none of your top grossers list!
sith 123, I can assure you my life is very full without LORT or Star Wars! I did go on the Star Wars ride at a theme park somewhere if that counts. As far as the list of best grossing films goes, I've seen 2, the HP films.
I fell asleep in Titanic at the cinema, does that count as not seeing it, never understood the fascination, we all knew it would sink and she was the girl.
I have a mate now in his 60s who insists he has never seen Zulu. He was serving
abroad when it first came out and when it was on the telly, it always followed the Queens speech??????????????
