A chair, an apple, a horse, a hospital, an hotel, an historic offence, a bike, a bus, a bird.

//its about time that the naming of suspects is banned until found guilty. //

^^ Absolutely right, redhelen.
Other victims may come forward, though, if the suspect is named.
Agree with ummm, let's wait and see, should never name someone until it's proven.
This reminds me of Louie Walsh who had 'allegedly' sexually assaulted a younger man in a public toilet some months back. He wasn't guilty, but suffered the fate of being named in the press and must have gone through hell. It does seem a shame to name people at this early stage as it really can't help.
It really can help, especially in cases of sexual assault.
Many victims are reluctant to report the offence and so some men can get away with assaulting many victims over the years. If the publicity encourages others to come forward too that can only be a good thing.

I am not suggesting for one minute that I think he is guilty. Like everyone else, I don't know.
I think I'm with hc on this one. Others may come forward.
Question Author
In view of some comments, I was not aware that one specifically had to ask a question.

This story is also being broadcast on the TV news, but notice I did not post it in the news section, (knowing the type of comments that one can receive on there), but in the Media & TV section more as an opportunity for TV fans etc to be made aware of the story and perhaps comment on it.

One will also notice that I did not make any personal comment on it myself until others had opened up the debate, by not making any comment I assumed I could not be accused of anything, but obviously I was wrong.

Finally I did not say he was guilty or not guilty that is not for me or anyone else to speculate on.

I also agree that everyone, celebrity or not, deserves anonymity until proven guilty, but until the law is changed we must all accept the present ruling.
i we one everyone, whats with all the nominative pronouns ?
i have been working at coronation St all week - and when i arrived at 7am this morning there were loads of press outside - just waiting to pounce i imagine - Micheal wasnt around all day but when i left at 1pm there were even more there - jeez i would hate to have been him having to pick my way through that lot!! all the cast and crew were saying that its sooo unfair to have HIS picture all over the Sun but not 'hers' - if its not true - then i'm gutted for him - nice guy
I agree with ummm, why has this been raised now? His family must be devastated at this ALLEGED allegation.

Innocent until proven guilty.
Because a 6 year old girl doesn't have the same thought process as an adult.
Gosh how sorry I feel for him and his family if he didn't do it .......... I know this from first hand, a close member of my family was accused of rape. He is a kind, upright man of high moral values, the girl in question was his evil step daughter who was jealous of him getting her Mums love and attention. Mum was torn between husband and daughter but daughter won........ she was such a nasty vindictive type, even "remembering" more allegations worse than the first ones, a year after she made the first, and taking those to the Police again..........she smirked all the way through the court case, we were amazed at her audacity and my poor relation had to suffer loss of marriage, job, reputation and dignity BUT here's the final crunch - he has kept all his friends, made new ones and is loved by everyone who he comes into contact with, so her wicked plan has totally backfired. He is still fighting to prove his innocence while she is no doubt putting some other poor chap through hell. How can the "so called victims" keep their name out of the papers while the "accused" can't - it isn't right at all and the law needs to be changed.
The alleged victim in this case is 16.

If you were raped would you report it to the police knowing full well it will result in your name being splashed all over the press? Many rape victims find the police investigation bad enough, never mind the trial. It takes a lot of guts to report a sex crime.
