Can any of you recommend a kitchen gadget for my elderly Mum to use ....... she needs to mince meat - both cooked and raw meat (shes 87 and can't chew meat very now well) also would like to chop vegetables to make coleslaw, soups etc. The ones I've seen are so expensive and complicated to use - she doesn't need a lot of additional attachments. Is there a simple food processor fairly cheap which will do all this please? If you can tell me the make and model no etc please I could perhaps get one from Ebay. Thanks to you all .............

PS she has tried a mincer that suctions to a table but they don't work.
argos have a value one for £25 but they also have a kenwood one on offer at £30 at the moment. Ive never had a problem with kenwood. http://www.argos.co.u...%3EFOOD+PROCESSOR.htm
Hi Ann,
this Kenwood multi food grinder seems to do all your mum wants it to. There are cheaper machines, but they don't all mince meat! Not too bad a price! Have a look at the product details & also the customer reviews which seem good! http://www.argos.co.u...mixers%7C14418606.htm
ah sorry, i missed the bit about mincing raw meat.
i think the one quassia links to is just the attachment for a processor
Oops! You may be right red!! ;0)

Thanks to you all for your advice - have looked at them all and have gone for the one you found redcrx - the Kenwood one. Seems to do everything Mum wants. Checked price in Argos on offer £29.99 but ordered one from Amazon at £24.14 and free postage - brilliant!! so ta muchly!
wow, thats a good price!
I bought a Kenwood one last year and it is VERY difficult to use.

O dear netibiza now you tell me! It has such brilliant reviews too. However Mum will only use the mincer part and the grater coarse blade to make coleslaw. She's brilliant for nearly 88 - before the TV switchover she could even programme her video recorder, something I can't do .......
For what it's worth I would say that you need to make sure the cutting blades are metal, not plastic, or she will struggle with it. Imagine what it's like trying to cut raw meat with a plastic knife. It'll cost more of course.

Thanks ladybirder - just checked and they are stainless steel blades - and have warned that they are really sharp! Can't be bad, sounds really good value..
I still have difficulty with working out which side of the blade I need for shredding for coleslaw, it's a reversible one and the whole machine had little bits here and there, ie a spindle thing which comes off where you put the bowl. My first one was a Toshiba (23yrs ago) and it was marvelous, only changed it cos one of the blades was difficult to remove after shredding) I still have it and may revert back.
Got my Kenwood (inc liquidiser) for £29 in Lakeland last Oct. Can't remember the model number.

Thanks for the link netibiza - pleased to see that is the one I've ordered (delivered Friday) so if you're happy I'm happy - hope Mum is happy (and can work out how to use it - and doesn't do herself a mischief with the sharp blade!) Watch this space ......
