All,

We are in the throes os converting a stable block into a property and need to have power lines installed from the road (a distance of approx. 50 yards)

Does anyone have any idea as to the approximate cost of having power laid in? We are torn between having it brought in via underground conduit (at the same time as having the drainage and telephone cabling done) or via (two new) poles that would have to be erected.

Any observations?

It does vary from area to area. Your energy supplier will quote for you. I've always just dug the trench, then picked up enough armoured cable from their yard and laid it in. They come and connect each end. Whoever you decide to go with after that (a different company from the supplier...... eg EDF) then fits your meter.
The last time we did one..we provided the duct...they pulled the cable in..32 mts...they fitted the transformer and did the connections...3 men for 6 hrs.....................£7.5k
