My HNC graduation is next month and I was just wondering roughly how much it costs to hire a gown? I don't really want to go but if it's too expensive it would give me a proper excuse :) lol xx

Search for your academic institution on the Ede & Ravenscroft website:

If you can't get a quote there, these figures from the University of Essex will give you an idea of the cost:

PS: Graduation ceremonies aren't really for the (former) students. They're for proud parents, partners or other family members.

I wasn't really looking forward to my graduation ceremony but I ended up enjoying it (despite stumbling over the edge of my gown in front of 2000 people, and nearly diving headlong into the University Chancellor!), and my parents obviously loved the day.

Thanks Chris.. I do feel bad for not wanting to go as I know my Gran would love to go. It's just I feel a bit... can't find the right word :| It's only for a HNC, I would feel different if it was for uni.
erin-x-------don't put yourself down . You have done well , so enjoy with Gran. All the best.

Aw thanks Brenda :) I'll think about it more.. It wont come round again I suppose x
Do it for your gran. Any achievement will be enjoyed by her. What if she cannot appreciate your next one?

Oh your're making me tear up now! lol.. i'll do it! xx
Could be worse - ours was held at the University of Bangor so was in Welsh and English!
Excellent! Good luck for the future. May you and your gran celebrate more success in the future.
I hired mine through the University - doesn't the institution you qualified through offer this service? You don't have to wear a gown in order to graduate (but it is a nice feeling!).

That must have been some day Sher! lol..
I'm sure you do get them through the college but I think you have to say whether you are attending or not first before it takes you onto that. Still have to pay though!
Thanks to all you guys though :) My Gran will be happy now lol xx
