We've already made a mess of the planet, now the space around it is the same. No wonder the aliens haven't landed here.

Yet again another 'space' polluted by humans. Generally in cases like this the area stays polluted until there is either a commercial or political reason for it to be cleaned. As the majority of people are not yet affected by it then it will stay that way for a long time.
