He said later that he tried not to display emotion for fear of scaring the schoolchildren...........
Which I think was the best thing he could do, IMO. Xx
I aways feel ill when I see footage of the people who jumped from the buildings. I hate to think what went through their minds before making that decision
i did watch it all, some had been shown before, but the harrowing stories from the firemen were horrific. Their bravery was extraordinary, and one feels for those left, who have had to live with the scenes for the rest of their days.
My friends' nephew was on holidays in New York, he was helping out his uncle (a builder) on top of the first tower, neither of them survived.Gorman was his name..from Co. Sligo. RIP.
This kind of sums the whole thing up. Very sad...

Seems like yesterday doesn't it....We went to ground zero, last October... Something we felt we had to do while visiting New York...It was so moving to be there..I cried all the way around the exhibition... you go into one room and the whole wall is just faces of people..people who were never found...God rest them.. and Hope their families find peace!...Mr Crisper and I will think of them all on 9/11.. Mrs Crisper x
There was a documentary a while ago about fraudsters who tried to claim compensation for fictitious relatives supposedly killed in the atrocity.

That is truly despicable...
markrae, The one featured in the news was a woman, who supposedly lost her loved one, and milked it for all it was worth, cruel and heartless.
This was some years back, we had dinner in a restaurant in one of the twin towers, the view was breathtaking, overlooking the whole of NY, with millions of lights sparkling, magical.
A very sad and tragic day indeed.
Initially, in the first tower many people delayed evacuation because they were told by their superiors to stay in their offices. It was only down to instinctive reactions that some decided to ignore the warnings and evacuate. This suggests that many more could potentially have been saved because time was crucial to escaping alive.
My goodness! I've never heard about the fraudsters. That is absolutely disgraceful :-(
not sure about that, considering the damage to both buildings, and just how quickly it all happened. How people can still believe it was the work of the American government i shall never know.
fliptheswitch - that is the most harrowing piece of film I've ever seen. Pray that nothing ever happens again to compare.
It was one event where no-one could possibly have anything for contempt towards the instigators. Whether religious or politically motivated, how can human beings inflict that on others? RIP 2,996.
Totally agree with you Sir.Prize. Such a moving piece of film.
Ironically just under that number of civillians were documented as being killed in just 1 week when the Americans started their bombing of Iraq.

The total number of civillians killed there is close on 40 9/11s

Imagine all of those people killed in the twin towers and a queue of 40 Iraqi men women and children behind each one
Yes, the so called 9/11 conspiracy 'truth movement' is utter rubbish and completely implausible.
I do think that the U.S were aware of a threat and yes things could have been handled differently by the F.B.I and the CIA but they were ignorant to the plan of the terrorists.
Jake, you can blame Bush for that, sorry but they should never have gone into Iraq, nor indeed Afghanistan.
You're right em. 9/11 gave the west an excuse for an invasion, to obtain oil!
