I bought some Egyptian cotton sheets. they're really nice but completely un-ironable! I don't use them because they look so crumpled. Percale is easy to look after.

the americans invented percale to avoid ironing lol
you want the best get 1000 thread egyptian cotton but cotton can be cold. pricey but you get what you pay for it will last.
Percale/polyester is better if you don't want crumpled (I never iron bedding!! - or much else for that matter). Buy a top quality percale.

Percale describes the weave not what the sheets are made of, so 100% Egyptian cotton can be Percale or otherwise. Percale has to have a minimum of 200 threads for weave

The higher the thread count the better the quality.
Percale is term referring to the minium weave standard which is 180 Count. Egyptian Cotton is very soft and very strong and robust and has some of the longest fibres in cotton so it can be woven to extremly high thread counts.
