I used to be able to highlight words/passages then type anew and the highlighted piece would disappear and be replaced by the new typed characters. Now I have to manually delete all the highlighted piece which wouldn't be a problem except i'm in the habit of highlighting and typing which used to automatically delete. so now I have to fiddle around to achieve getting rid of the previous text.
Is there an adjustment I can make somewhere to restore this please

Again thanks vallow, looks like 2003 version
Find Word Options - I think it's under the "file" menu. Otherwise use f1 for help and put options in the search box
I've had a search and it's Tools > Options > Edit > check "Typing replaces
selection".
