I was just wondering how long after the death of a person are the beneficiaries normally contacted. thanks

i think the executors usually have a year (after the death) to distibute the legacies
Do you want to see the will? At some stage it will be available at the probate office
There is no simple answer. Some executors contact the beneficiaries immediately, some wait until the Grant is obtained, some wait until they are ready to distribute. It really depends on how complex the estate is.

thankyou for the replies, and yes i have looked at the other thread. the funeral was 6 weeks ago but I was not present. There are rifts in the family and i was not even aware he had died until a few days ago. i do not need to see the will -just curious as to if I have been left anything - if not well at least I am pretty sure he's made a will so whoever or whatever gets an inheritence it will go to who he wanted it to go to - thanks ;-)
