Hi. If you're working part time (16 hours a week or less), can you claim anything that "tops up" your income until you find a full time job? Person in question is living with someone and he's got a full time job. I wasn't sure if they'd take into account the person she was living with or not.

If they are living together then both incomes will be taken into account.

Had a feeling that was the case but didn't like to say so in case I was wrong! So what kind of amount would he need to be earning for her to possibly get benefits?
Well if he is earning a full-time wage and she a part time one, they are likely to be above the amount the government decrees they need to live on. It would depend on whether they have children too.
Should be able to get some info here. There is also a calculator where they'll give an estimate.

^^^ a bright idea every second here ;)
they take away benefit money...so basically you will only get £5 in JSA...the rest is taken - if you earn less than your benefit then you will get the excess benefit ... you still get housing etc though...

financially you will be no better off
