They did well, didn't they?
Question Author
Yes Padds they did, I remember they said they did not want recognition of any kind , such is the type of people we see all too regularly, sadly
I think we saw on display there the very best side of the British character.

I totally agree sandy, pitt these dignified townspeople against the hoodlums and the looters...no contest!!!
totally agree Bobbisox - character and dignity are lacking in some areas today but Wooten Basset has those qualities in abundance.
Question Author

Bobbiesox, soon they will become Royal Wootton Bassett, a deserved honour.
Well done.
On Breakfast they've got the father of one of the boys who came back through Wootten Basset and he was quite emotional when he was trying to describe his feelings and how he still feels about the fact that so many ordinary people acted as they did in what was originally a spontaneous manner.
Maximum respect to those people of Wooton Basset! It brings a lump to my throat every time I see one of those repatriations.
Question Author
excellent em, they deserve this
Wonderful place and wonderful people. They deserve the 'Royal' title.
Wiltshire people are proud and honoured to have been able to pay our respects to brave service personel. Now it is the turn of Brize Norton and Oxford to carry on.
Moonraker it is, and i'm sure that those people will keep the servicemen and women in their prayers, and thoughts.
agree with everything said lets hope problems in war areas soon solved no need for repatriations
