Removing creases from a carpet

During renovation work our hard backed carpet was folded back and creased. The carpet fitter has been twice but the creases are still there and are very evident in natural light. Is there a way to remove the creases or will they settle through time. Some are ridges and others grooves.
Thank you.

ayrforce1, Try covering with a rug for the time being. Or put a heavy piece of flat furniture on it for a while (weeks) that may do it.

Thanks Jemisa, problem being the worst of it is at the door .
Steam iron ,used over an old white sheet ?????
Use a steam wallpaper stripper to steam the creases out,I had to do the same with my carpet several years ago.

Many thanks I`ll give it a go.
I gave an answer, pressed submit and its disappeared. So will try again.....

Anyway, as applying steam has been suggested, I will tell you what I was told over 40yrs ago by Professional Carpet fitters, who did it on a carpet for their firm's boss.......Soak the areas with water and allow to dry.

Ron.
PS. Make sure that it is firmly fixed on all edges to avoid it shrinking out of line.
