How much are your energy bills?

I have just had the following energy bill summary for the past 12 months:

Gas £474-66
Electric £327-45

I live in a 3 bed Semi (slightly extended) with my wife and two teenage kids. I have gas central heating via a combiboiler and a gas cooker. The house has good loft and cavity wall insulation. The kids have TVs in their rooms that always seem to be on!

Are these bills unusually low? I hear horror stories from some colleagues at work who seem to pay much more, in some cases twice as much.

Funnily enough I just had a letter off Atlantic energy apologising for putting their prices up 18%
They've estimated my costs, based on last year, to be £430.98 for electric and £713.79 for gas for next year.

Just me and my teenage Daughter live in a 4 bed Detached...Getting her a big woolly jumper fo Christmas :-)
Hi Richie, they so seem a bit on the low side. May sound daft but have your meters been read or is it an estimated one as no one has mentioned it. We live in 3 bedroomed semi with similar things to you including kids TVs that are always on and our bill comes in at around £1300 a year for both.

As I am on the Economy 7 tariff it may be that my meter is wired the wrong way round, i.e. according to may latest quarterly we used 178 day (normal) units and 802 night (low) units. The last reading appears to be 'actual' - but I can't remember an engineer visiting and I haven't updated the reading online for ages. If this is the case the wrong readings have been used well before I moved in three years ago - any online meter reading submissions I have done just follow the number pattern (Day is currently 32900 and Night 19200 approx).
Hi Richie616 I too think that is a little low, I live in a 3 bedroomed detached house, fully insulated.I have 1 teenage son who lives in his bedroom with both computer and television on.All my lights are energy efficient, and my usage for both is on average £1370 a year.
i live in a two-up-two down terrace and pay £60 per month combined. i got £38 refund last week following my summer bill, but presume this will be swallowed by the 18%elec/11%gas rise that has just been imposed. i think i'm fairly happy with that and try to be careful, but in a house full of boys and gadgets + a tumble dryer, i probably use more than i should. x
I live in a 2 bed terrace with my little who is just over 1 and I pay £83 DD each month which amounts up to £996 per year. Had a letter from E.ON saying that the prices were going up from 13th Sept :o(
We pay £60 a month for both in our very little 2 bed cottage but turn heating off in April to September. In winter we use our open fire a lot too to save a bit. Think ours is pretty low thank goodness. It's just gone up £10 a month in the annual review so hopefully they have estimated for the increases if not I'll just wear more jumpers and cuddle my dog more! We saved a few pounds by changing to online billing too and get £100 a year back for using Npower for both gas and electric on direct debit.
