Does anybody know when a women gets married and takes her husbands surname, do you ever need your birth certificate for anything legal.

I was having a sort out of my paper work the other day, and noticed i had my husbands and childrens birth cerificates, but mine is missing.

I know i can get a copy from births, deaths and marriages, but wondered if it is worth getting a copy as i have had my husbands surname for 21 years.

many thanks

yes, i have had to show my birth certificate many times when ive gone for a job
You need it to apply for a passport.
You always need your birth certificate, doesn't matter whether you are married or not. How would you get a passport, or anything that proves your parentage?
