Because there are many reports required from many people; doctors, paramedics, police as well as the people who were last with her. October is actually not that far away in terms of an inquest, they can take many, many months.

Thanks for replies; yes that what why I asked really because of the funeral. I remember when Lady Di died (only using this example because the date sticks in my old brain) she died on 31st aug and was buried 6th September.
ah it could have been the autopsy report..is that what you mean? i know he was buried about a week after he died and i remember his mum going to court or some meeting a year or so later and finding out the cause of death....
You can be buried after an autopsy has been carried out. So they already know the cause of death at the inquest.

It took 3 weeks for my Uncles body to be released after his death. For the simple fact he died on his own.....they had to make sure there was no foul play.

There wasn't (obviously) and it turned out he had the perfect death.

She has had a post mortem and nothing suspicious is showing. So I guess they don't know what happened and maybe she can still be buried soon.
Yes....inquest is a bit like going to court.

Did he die in suspicious circumstances?
yeah sort of... it wasnt me though honest .....
a funeral can take place after the PM is done. An inquest can be held at any point in the future, dosen't matter if the funeral has happened. the coroner issues an interim death certificate
A friend of ours died last December, the inquest isn't until this month. The coroner arranges for sufficient samples and specimens to be taken before the body is released for burial or cremation, but as has been said, analysis and reports can take ages after that.
what is a 'perfect death'?!
There is some good info here:-

http://www.surreycoro...coroners.html#purpose
crisgal....a perfect death, imo, is when someone dies painlessly in their sleep. In my Uncles case, basically, his heart stopped beating. No evidence of heart attack, so that was the conclusion the coroner gave us.
My nephew died in October, a couple of days later a post mortem was done. Within a week the inquest was opened and adjourned until April. The coroner explained to me that its normal pratice as it allows evidence to be gathered.
oh i see!
I thought the coroner had given the verdict of 'perfect death'!
I thought - blimey - ain't never seen that on law and order!

Yes, that's the way to go ♥
