are you there sqad?
mum is diabetic and has stage 4 kidney failure. At a recent check, the nurse noticed a small purple spot on her lower leg. She asked her to keep an eye on it and over a few weeks, it's gone bigger and redder.
Mum's really worried as to what it is and I wondered too. Any ideas?
she has loads of bruising all over, as she's been on warfarin for years and years, yet this looks a bit different.

The first thing that springs to mind is Necrobiosis Lipoidica Diabeticorum.....big name, but no big deal.

Google it and any problems then get back to me.

you are amazing sqad. thank you. That will really put her mind at rest. she's been putting her cream on it gently every day. Just her moisture cream she uses for her very dry skin. Should she keep on doing that do you think?
No problem.

No, just leave well alone.
Just had another thought.....tell he to be careful that she doesn't knock it.
Question Author
yes, she's had some very nasty incidents with her legs in the past, so is extra extra careful! Thank you so much x
Ever so worried after reading this. My Mum has type 2 diabetes and is always showing me new ' bruises '. She always attends doc appointments and takes a cocktail of pills daily as she has numerous complaints. I have started getting bruises even though I have not knocked myself or bumped into anything.Should I be worried ?
whitbybabe..as I understand this, both your mother (a diabetic) and your goodself, both develop bruises, but you are not a diabetic.

It is probably nothing to worry about, but go to your Dr who will arrange some blood tests.

Do you live in Whitby?
