I have just got this phone and am still learning. This is my problem.
I downloaded an ereader from the app store. Then I went to the ereader's store and downloaded a book. The book is now showing in "downloads" but not in the library. The download shows as complete but I can't open the book. Also, the download icon is still showing on the home screen.
I have tried re-booting the phone. Other than that I'm in the dark.

can you help please ?

I have the HTC Mozart, and after the download is complete, you'll still have to actually install the book for the mobile to access the book. However, the website may have your answer in FAQ's

Thanks for the speedy answer. How do I install the book? I can't find the answers I need on the website.
